ATEX robot for suction of ponds

Joint development with Tankiac of a robot for slop oil treatment.

Need

Our customer required a robotic system with technology to work in ATEX environments, being able to be permanently submerged in ponds with hydrocarbons or waters with high sludge content and very corrosive products. To achieve this goal, our R&D department has worked closely with the Tankiac technical and production team.

Solution

The robot that we have produced has a set of excavator-type caterpillar tracks and a chassis in which the suction pumps and sludge collection system are installed.

This device is connected by an umbilical cable to reels that are installed in a 20” container next to the hydraulic unit and the operating desk, where the hydraulic controls are located according to the work to be done. The robot is controlled by radio remote control.

The installation consists of an additional 20” container to house the control room and a changing room.
